Window Cost in Southampton, PA

This is one of the first things we assess at every estimate visit — and it has a meaningful impact on both cost and disruption.

Pocket replacement

Lower cost · Less disruption
  • New window unit installed inside the existing frame
  • Interior and exterior trim stays in place
  • Typically takes 1–2 hours per window
  • Right choice when the existing frame is structurally sound
  • Slightly reduces the glass area (frame goes inside frame)
Best for: sound frames, budget-conscious projects

Full-frame replacement

Higher cost · More complete
  • Everything removed down to the rough opening
  • Allows any opening size — not limited to existing frame dimensions
  • Necessary when frames are rotted, damaged, or structurally compromised
  • More interior and exterior finishing work involved
  • The right call when the frame has issues, even if it costs more
Best for: rotted frames, size changes, older homes

We assess both options at every estimate visit and recommend what actually makes sense. Choosing pocket replacement when full-frame is needed leads to installation failures, air infiltration, and voided warranties — we won't do that to save a sale.

Things to know before you budget

These aren't reasons to avoid replacing windows — just honest information that helps you plan correctly.

Custom sizing in older homes

Homes built before 1960 — especially rowhomes in Philadelphia and older properties in Burlington and Mercer counties NJ — often have openings that don't match any standard window size. Custom-ordered windows add cost and a 3–6 week lead time. The upside: a properly fitting window, not one shimmed to fill gaps.

Lead paint in pre-1978 homes

A significant portion of the Philadelphia and Trenton area housing stock predates 1978. Lead paint protocols are legally required for window work in these homes — additional containment, careful removal, and certified disposal. This adds time and cost, but cannot be skipped. We are EPA RRP certified and handle this correctly.

Project minimums

Contractors have minimum project thresholds to cover fixed mobilization costs. A single-window job may carry a higher-seeming per-window price. This isn't arbitrary — it's the honest economics of doing the work correctly. We'll quote it transparently and often suggest whether doing a second nearby window makes the project more cost-efficient.

Rowhome and access complexity

Rowhomes in Philadelphia and South Jersey present different challenges than detached colonials in the suburbs — narrower working access, shared walls, stricter cleanup requirements, and sometimes limited staging area. This adds time and affects cost. All of it gets assessed during the in-home visit.

Matching existing windows

Replacing one or two windows raises the question: will they match? Profile shapes, grid patterns, and glass appearance vary between manufacturers and product lines. Mixing old and new on the same wall can look inconsistent. We'll advise honestly on whether a partial replacement makes sense or whether phasing toward a full-home approach is smarter.

Historic district requirements

If your home is in a Philadelphia historic district or an NJ preservation area, window replacements may require approval from the local historic commission. Certain styles, materials, and grid configurations may be required or prohibited. We know these requirements across the region and handle the coordination.

Glass packages & energy performance

Frame material is only part of the thermal equation. What's inside the glass matters just as much.

1

In-home estimate visit

We measure every opening, assess frame condition, check for any structural or framing issues, and discuss your goals and budget. This takes 30–60 minutes. No pressure — the purpose is to give you a real, accurate number.

2

Written estimate and product selection

You receive a detailed written estimate covering the window product, installation scope, any additional work needed, and total cost. We'll walk through product options at different price points and answer any questions.

3

Order and lead time

Standard windows typically arrive in 2–4 weeks. Custom-sized windows take 4–7 weeks. We coordinate scheduling once the order is confirmed and give you an installation window.

4

Installation day

Our crew arrives, protects interior surfaces, removes the old windows, and installs the new units. We close every opening before end of day — no overnight exposures, ever. A single window takes 1–2 hours; a full home of 10–15 windows typically takes 1–2 days.

5

Cleanup and walkthrough

We clean up completely before leaving — old windows, packaging, debris, and any job-site materials. We walk through the completed work with you, confirm everything operates correctly, and leave you with warranty documentation.
